  • Narrator David Tennant invites you to share in a strange adventure: a jazz big band adaptation of Prokofiev’s famous tale. Jazz instruments take the place of the classical orchestra in this innovative and irresistible adaption as The Amazing Keystone Big Band introduce listeners to the sound of the big band and to the history of jazz. The booklet relates the story in a series of magnificently realised illustrations (by Martin Jarrie).

David Tennant is the Scottish actor known for his roles as the tenth Doctor in the British television series 'Doctor Who', Alec Hardy in 'Broadchurch', Giacomo Casanova in the eponymous TV serial and Barty Crouch, Jr. in 'Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire'. In addition to his appearances on screen, Tennant has worked as a voice actor, most recently for cult TV series 'W1A' and appeared as a critically acclaimed 'Hamlet' for the RSC. In January 2015, Tennant received the National Television Award for Special Recognition.

The Amazing Keystone Big Band is a jazz band led by Fred Nardin, Jon Boutellier, Bastien Ballaz and David Enhco. The band’s 18 members are among the best and most active of the new generation of French jazz musicians. Since 2010, the band has had the opportunity to work and play with – and write music for – world famous artists such as Gregory Porter, Cecile McLorin Salvant, Rhoda Scott, Liz McComb, Michel Hausser and Quincy Jones.
